In the afterglow of Austin

Last week now feels like some fuzzy dream. Downtown Austin has undoubtedly returned to it’s normal state of affairs. The street sweepers have collected the mountains of litter and the lanes belong once again to cars, rather than hordes of musicians, fans and industry folk.
It was a week of awesome music and chance encounters. We played two incredible shows, where we had the opportunity to rock out to and meet incredible musicians like Penguin Prison, The Stone Foxes, Saint Motel, Kosha Dillz and Odd Modern. We stood in line to see an amazing band from across the sea-The Naked and Famous and wandered the streets of Texas only to run into bands from Los Angeles- Mad Planet and Foster the People. Needless to say, SXSW was an unforgettable experience. It was our first and shall not be our last. So, until we meet again Austin…

Bees Are Buzzing

We are only a week away from our first ever SXSW appearance and are pretty excited about the trip as well as the performances. We are playing two dates: 3/15 Music Tech Mash Up Party and 3/16 The Real Official Unofficial SUPERGOODMUSIC Showcase! We’re playing with some great acts including Robotanists, Odd Modern, Saint Motel, Eyes Lips Eyes, The Stone Foxes and The Tender Box among others.

Almost equally exciting, to us, are all the recent additions to our studio! Quad Core Mac, Apogee AD/DA converters and Focusrite mic pres to name a few. Pres, converters and processors OH MY!! What does it all mean. . . better sounding records. . . and hopefully less time with the “Spinning Beach Ball of Death” on our screen during mixes! We think that’s awesome, but we’re kind of nerds:P

Of course what good is a studio if there is no music to record. Well, we have a new track titled “Bees” that we’re certain will be a positive push in a slightly different direction for Tic Tic Boom! We plan to record and release “Bees” digitally, as soon as we return from SXSW. We also plan to release “Bees” as a limited run 7″ vinyl later in the Spring. So, if you’re not lucky enough to catch us close out our sets at SXSW in a swarm of new found love for fuzz, then ‘bee’ on the look out for the sure to be ‘buzzed’ about track in the weeks to follow!

Also weighing in on Reasons & Rhymes was Ashley Eliot (@AshleyEliot) for The Vinyl District. Ashley has been kind enough to play both “The Floodgate” and “Just Friends” on her radio show Everyday Noise on Houndstooth Radio.

We are officially unofficial at this year’s SXSW conference and are looking forward to piling into the van again and hitting the road! It’s going to be an awesome opportunity to hang with tons of great artists in the Lone Star State. On top of our list to see are The Naked and Famous, Mad Planet and Foster The People.

We’ve been hard at work in our studio crafting some new music and are planning to have a new track for you at our next show, Saturday March, 5th at the CENTRAL SAPC (Santa Monica, CA). Also in the works, is a brand new merch store filled with all sorts of cool Tic Tic Boom! stuff like stickers and buttons as well as digital downloads and cd’s of our tunes. Reasons & Rhymes

The new year is off and running with lots of news for TTB! Our new EP Reasons & Rhymes will be here in about a week, we got a cool post from the folks at The Owl Mag (www.theowlmag.com) and we will be playing our first live show in over a year in celebration of it all on Monday January 17th at the infamous Viper Room!

2010 was a big growing year for us. We became studio rats and learned to produce the music ourselves, which has proven to be a great tool set to have as we move forward in this DIY/ new tech/ web 2.0 jungle that is the current independent music model. With that, we plan to produce a lot more music in the coming year from our very own Eight Lane Studios. Be on the look out for a 7 inch release in early Spring, another EP by fall and a few remixes along the way to keep your interest. We hope to see all of you at the Viper Room!!

“Just Friends” from Mike

Just Friends by Tic Tic Boom! The release of the 4th song on our new EP, titled REASONS & RHYMES, has brought up a lot of memories from the last year. We originally recorded this song for my 1st quarter project at MI, but this song has come to mean a lot more to me. It marks the beginning of so many changes, including a bit of a genre change for Tic Tic Boom! and stepping into the producer role for the first time. I feel like I’ve made huge changes for myself and the band over the last year, and it all started with this 3 minute song!! I hope you enjoy!!

New Blog!

Tic Tic Boom! finally joins the blogosphere.

We’ve been hard at work on our soon to be released EP titled Reasons & Rhymes.  This will be  our first entirely self-produced release, crafted with love in our brand new studio.  We plan to have it available digitally by the end of the year.  Most of the Reasons & Rhymes is already available for free download on the official website at www.ticticboommusic.com
